These questions have made me often wonder. Why the hits of yesteryears are picked up for a remake. Why they inevitably flop so miserably. With an exception of Doctor Who, but then it’s not a remake, all efforts to bring back a hit show of past usually prove futile. And, if you thought that I am just talking about Bionic Woman TV Show then you are wrong. The second inning of Knight Rider proved to be such a big flop that the show had to be cancelled after just one season.
First of all lets see why creators pick a famous and popular show of past for another run. It’s obvious enough, to cash on its success. Accomplishment of the past is considered to be the passport to success in the future also. But the success itself becomes the nemesis for the new show.

In case of Bionic Woman, the idea of a female superhero with bionic body parts was not only unique but also as fresh as a steaming cake out of oven when the original show was premiered in 1976 on ABC with the title The Bionic Woman. Though the show lasted just 3 seasons, it acquired fame and popularity big enough to spawn merchandise like dolls, lunch boxes, and board games, not to mention novels and comics. But when the show was brought back as reimagined series, in 2007 it fell flat on its face.
One reason of failure of reimagined TV Show was that by the time Bionic Woman based on its more popular predecessor was brought the concept had already lost its uniqueness.
Secondly, popularity of any TV Show in a particular era reflects the interests and taste of that era only. Trends and tastes change with time and generation. So what caught the fancy of people in 1970’s completely failed to impress the Gen X of 2007 when Bionic Woman with Michelle Ryan in the main lead returned to the small screen.
Strike by the Writers Guild of America drove the last nail into the coffin of Bionic Woman. The strike sounded the death knell for many TV shows and unfortunately this show was also one of them.

Michelle Ryan, who walked down the red carpet in a striking red dress at the recent BAFTA TV Awards-2009, is all set to appear in one off drama One Night In Emergency for BBC Scotland with Grey’s Anatomy star Kevin McKidd. This drama is based on the story of a husband’s surreal hunt for his wife in the inner city hospital. Written by Gregory Burke, author of Black Watch, the movie would commence shooting in and around Glasgow. The cast includes Ewen Bremner, Gary Lewis, Sanjeev Kohli and David Hayman and the movie will be directed by Michael Offer who is renowned for his ventures like The Passion and The State Within.
This amazingly talented and extremely gorgeous actress portrayed ‘Jaime Sommers’ in our favorite series Bionic Woman that premiered in 2007, and was based on the original series of the same name of 1970’s.

Though the series ended rather abruptly after airing just a few episodes, we cannot forget the lovely actress who was the protagonist of the show. Ryan was extremely enthusiastic about doing this show and worked very hard for it. So much so, that in an episode named ‘The Education of Jaime Sommers’ (episode 5) she used the Oxford shire accent instead of her natural London accent so that she could do justice to her character. Also, her prior training in professional dance helped her in doing the physically demanding stunts, which were required for the show. You can judge her dedication and professionalism from the fact that she also took training in Krav Maga, a martial art form and sign language to play her part well. No wonder she was disappointed at the cancellation of the show.
As hindsight, she commented that the show was cancelled because it kept changing direction. This came as a huge set back to her and consequently she grew less ambitious about her career. She was once quoted saying, “I’m more go-with-the-flow now”.
Recently, she appeared as “Lady Christina de Souza” in one episode of ‘Doctor who’, on 11 April 2009. She is expected to appear again on this series. She has said about this, “At the moment, when it comes to acting, I’m a bit of a commitment-phobe”. Well! We will surely love to see her in more television shows.

‘Bionic Woman‘ is an amazing series with a plot like that of any superhero movie, the only difference here is that instead of a superhero, we have a super heroine. The plot revolves around Jamie, in whose body bionic body parts are implanted, after an accident that she met with. Now the organization that has implanted those body parts into her body wants her to work for the organization and save the lives of the innocent people. Jamie, after much hesitation, decides to use her powers for the good.

Nay, nay…. No one is disturbing ‘Bionic Woman‘! And, who can do so with a series that has been cancelled just after the first season. Series really had a very bad experience and getting cancelled was completely unfair! Undoubtedly, Bionic Woman was sort of unique shows and the story, it based on, was never seen before on any TV Network. When NBC aired the first episode of the show entitled ‘Pilot’ on September 26, 2007, everyone thought that another great series is making its way through the network. But nothing happened and Bionic Woman said us bye after the eight episodes only!

A series with a very unique plot…. And with one season only and just eight episodes were there. First season finale was entitled ‘Do Not Disturb’ and it was aired on November 28, 2007. In this episode, we saw that Jaime went on a vacation with Becca at a spa resort. Things didn’t go as they initially planned and situation went awry when she was pulled into a deadly game with some other guest at the resort. And, this was an end to ‘Bionic Woman’.
Episodes aired prior to this episode were entitled ‘Pilot’, ‘Paradise Lost’, ‘Sisterhood’, ‘Faceoff’, ‘The Education of Jaime Sommers’, ‘The List’, ‘Trust Issues’ etc. They all were entertaining ones and we enjoyed the show during its first season. But when we came to know about NBC Network’s decision to cancel the show, all fans were disturbed. Well, here we offer you all episodes of series in ready to download format. You can download or can watch online!

Michelle Ryan portrayed the character of Jaime Sommers and the lady did a brilliant job. Her appearance as a hard working lady, who saw a change which no one of us could ever thought, made her a darling actress. And, she became the Bionic Woman….
Series was a production of David Eick Productions in an association with GEP Productions and NBC Universal Television Studio.

I know that the series is not liked at all and that is why the creators thought of not giving it another season. But, all I want to ask is that was it really that bad? I mean that I had seen a few episodes of the series and that looked pretty fine to me. Ok I agree that I didn’t follow the complete season, but whatever I had seen was good. If you ask for a frank opinion from me, the series had a good plot and it was presented well. Yes, it did seem like a bit fictional at times but, I guess it was much better than many of the series which have no head and tail and are still on air.

I still, very well, remember the pilot episode of the series and it was done in a very interesting way. The pilot episode focused on Jamie Sommers and provided an insight to her character and her previous life. It was in the very first episode that her normal life comes to an end and she became a victim of something unusual. She met an accident and her whole life changes in an instance. When, in order to save her life, her boyfriend also a doctor, implants bionic body parts, which also gives her extraordinary powers which are beyond her control. But, she uses her powers for good and becomes a help to the nation.

Well, I don’t think so it was really that bad. When all the superhero movies like Batman, Iron man can become an instant hit. Why can’t we accept a ‘super woman’? Don’t you think that we should be open to such changes and let women also do some heroic deeds?
If you ask me I am completely in favor of it. And, I expect your answer to be in positive too.

Can you tell me, what led Bionic Woman to be cancelled?
Well, I can. As per my views, plot was fantastic and show-representation was also good. Then, what was wrong with the show? Why it got cancelled? It may be the leading actress Michael Ryan who failed to impress the audience with her performance. This gorgeous is also said to be depressed by the ratings’ failure of her sci-fi show. I think her depression and tension is obvious when reviewers called Bionic Woman- ‘clichéd’, ‘dark’, ‘depressing’ and ‘a total loss’. Sources have also said, “Frankly, the bosses at the network decided to blame Michelle for the show’s failure. Their bet was that American viewers would fall in love with her looks, personality, and the character she played. But that just didn’t happen’.

Michelle Ryan played Jaime Wells Sommers on series. She was a bartender who got involved in a terrible accident which results in her being outfitted with a pair of bionic legs and bionic right arm. These instruments provided her super agility and strength. The whole story line was weaved around her and it was a great chance for her to attract everyone with her appearance and skills. But unluckily, she failed to do so.

Her failure resulted in series’ failure and it resulted in a costly failure for NBC. If you remember, more than $15 million was spent in marketing the show’s launch appeal last year. So, just to avoid more losses and failures, they took a wise decision and put the show in the box of ‘bye-bye’ shows.
What to say Ms.? Just because of you, we all have lost our favorite sci-fi series. Sorry, if you’re impressed by her acting skills….

Fans of this unlucky series are really, really unlucky!!
Why I’m saying like that? I think I don’t need to clarify my point and you all know it very well. Yeah, Bionic Woman is over after the first season and no hopes of its retrieval.

Series was a remake of 1970s series of the same name and it had been one of the most heavily aired shows of the fall. I still remember the days of WGA strike when rumors were flying around that the series has been cancelled but no official word was there! But now, everything is as apparent as water after the word of series’ executive producer David Eick, who confirms that ‘The Show is gone”.
Bionic Woman just gave us a single season… and no more episodes after that. Season 1 finale ‘Do Not Disturb’ was aired on 11-28-2007 and here’s a little review of the season-cum-series finale episode-

Jaime and Becca go on a vacation at a spa resort but everything gets wrong when she’s drawn into a deadly game with another guest at the resort. No cliffhangers were left unsolved but even then, we all hoped to have some more episodes from series.
So, things are over and all hopes of series’ retrieval are kicked out after the official announcement. Well, if you’re a huge fan of series and can’t give up your favorite sci-fi show, then, here you can have all episodes from previous season. Just click to watch your favorite episode!

What’s it about…
All of us lead a very normal life, being the normal persons that we are. But imagine if some day, out of a blue you are expected to do something you are not at all used to. You get all those almighty, supernatural powers that as a kid you always wanted. If you had powers you would do this, change that etc, etc…. .
Yes, imagine if you really get the powers one day. How would you like to use them????? For good or for bad. But, let me tell you one thing, it is definitely not an easy job to carry the burden of the nation on your shoulders. To fight for the truth and use those powers, only when they are actually required.
Bionic in science fiction, is used to describe a human being who has had some human organs or functions replaced or enhanced by electronically powered parts that give the person superhuman capabilities.
This series is about a woman Jamie, who leads a normal life as a bartender, struggling through her everyday activities, with her rebellious sister, and a loving boyfriend. When one day she met an accident which changes her whole life. The only way to save her life was to implant those bionic implants to her body, which leaves her with those super human qualities. How she gets used to her new body parts and the way she uses the powers is what the series is all about.

With just eight episodes telecasted on air the series came to a halt. Because of various reasons that of writers strike and of the response that the show received from its viewers. But the producers had made clear that as soon as the strike will get over the remaining episodes will be telecasted, but till now nothing has been done regarding the same. The series was originally aired on Tuesdays at 9pm on ITV2, from September to November, 2007.
